Development objective

The objective of the Project is to improve the treatment and final disposal of municipal solid waste in Brazil while: (a) supporting (i) the closing of open dumps and the implementation of modern and environmentally safe landfills or alternatives to waste disposal; (ii) improved municipal solid waste management practices; (iii) reduction of poverty among waste pickers; and (iv) increased private sector participation in solid waste service provision; and (b) strengthening Caixa Economica Federal#s capacity to manage carbon finance projects.
